Corner Bakery House Dressing Recreation

 CORNER BAKERY HOUSE DRESSING RECREATION
Printable Recipe

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1. Pour all ingredients into a mason jar or dressing container

2. Cover tightly with a lid & shake or mix well

STORY BEHIND THE DISH
I have always loved Corner Bakery's Chopped Salad & this is the closest I have come to recreating the dressing. It is a basic house dressing with a bit of mustard for a tangy taste.

Not much can be modified to come close to this recipe, I would suggest removing the red pepper flakes if you want to reduce the heat.

  1. I'm too also very addicted to CB's chopped salad especially the dressing. This recipe comes very close to the original. Honestly, I can't tell the difference!!! Thank you so much for posting, Jen! I have been searching for this forever. Now I can eat it anytime I want....mwahahaha. For my taste, I use Safflower oil instead of olive oil, honey dijon mustard instead of whole grain dijon mustard, and 1 tablespoon of sweet onion dressing.

  2. I followed the recipe and can't get it to mix :( it seems the mustard and honey want to sit at the bottom... I'm super bummed! Any suggestions?

    1. I am so sorry I just noticied this comment! I suggest you put it all in a bowl first & whisk it then add it to the jar or a salad dressing shaker to pour. Some thicker honeys are hard to mix so you really need to mix it well. Hope this helps. Again so sorry for the late reply!

  4. I don't know which Corner Bakery this recipe is trying to mimic but it tastes nothing like the house dressing from the Corner Bakeries in Houston Yuk!

  5. You can put 1/2 tsp of mayo to emulsify the dressing.

  7. I felt like it had too much olive oil. What type of olive oil did you use?
